What is a machine operator

A Machine Operator is someone who operates, sets up, checks and converts machines in a factory environment. In this position, you are mainly concerned with the actual operation of the machines. You resolve any minor malfunctions and notify the technical department in case of larger problems.

Work of a Machine Operator

When you work as a Machine Operator, you may have to deal with various activities. This depends in part on the industry or sector in which you work. Yet there are some activities that in most cases recur in some form, namely:

  • Setting upand, if necessary, converting machines in accordance with the work order

How to become a Machine Operator

When you start work as a Machine Operator, you need to have a VAPRO A diploma. This is a technical training program geared toward the profession of operator, with the VAPRO A section being designed for technicians and operators who independently operate, maintain and convert plant and equipment.

In addition to a VAPRO education, another technical MBO education can serve as a basis for someone who wants to work as a machine operator. Examples of relevant courses are:

  • All-round Operator production technology (MBO 3)
  • Automation technology
  • Basis operator (MBO 1)

  • Mechnical Operator (MBO 2)
  • Operational Technician (MBO 2 or 3)
  • Industrial Automation Technician (MBO 4)

What is the salary of a Machine Operator?
