What is a Planner?

A Planner is someone who performs work within a company related to the planning of personnel, production, transportation and/or logistics, for example. Some planners deal exclusively with one of these areas; their job is then, for example, personnel planner or production planner.

Work of a Planner

The work of planners depends on the exact job and company. A planner can be responsible both for scheduling personnel and for the production, transportation and logistics of goods. A combination of these duties is also possible. Below are some of the tasks performed:

  • Making daily, weekly and monthly schedules
  • Optimizing the operational performance
  • Reporting performance figures to management
  • Processing of administrative data

  • Establishing, coordinating and managing a sales forecast related to the goods and/or service to be deliverd
  • Monitoring and reporting developments in demand

  • Organizing inventory plannig, ensuring sufficient inventory at quality level at all times
  • Purchasing and planning verious raw materials and materials at the desired price and quality level
  • Agreeing supply conditions with suppliers
  • Developing, monitoring and optimizing reliable and efficient logisctics plans as well as work processes
  • Preparation of subsequent costing

Salary of a Planner

When you start working within this position, the hourly salary will be around €18 and the monthly salary will be around €2,900. This salary often depends on knowledge, age and experience. You will see that the salary increases the longer you work or specify yourself in a particular field.
