What is a Recruiter

A Recruiter is someone who recruits and selects personnel with the intention of filling an open vacancy. As a Recruiter you can use your own network, your knowledge of the specific market and various other sources (e.g. LinkedIn). The main task of the Recruiter is to match the employer's wishes with those of an employee, so that the vacancy can be filled and the employee has found a job.

Tasks of a Recruiter

The job of the recruiter boils down to finding a match between the supply and demand side of the job market. The vacancies that an organization has open must be filled by the best possible and currently available candidates. On the other hand, as a recruiter, you have to offer a candidate the position that is most appropriate based on his knowledge, competencies, ambitions and interests. Below are some of the tasks that are performed:

  • Drawing up a job profile for a specific vacancy
  • Collecting, screening and assessing incoming applications
  • Searching for suitable candidates through various channels
  • Selecting and actively approaching interesting candidates who fit the outlined job profile
  • Answering received applications
  • Conducting telephone interviews with candidates
  • Conducting orientational interviews and/or job interviews with candidates
  • Coaching of candidates during the application process
  • Screening candidates (e.g. contacting references or checking diplomas)
  • Maintaining contact with candidates

  • Commercial ability: thinking and acting from opportunities in the market and assessing these at the right commercial value
  • Initiative: creating opportunities or identifying problems and acting on them without waiting
  • Customer orientation: investigate the wishes and needs of the customer and act accordingly

The salary of a Recruiter

When you start working within this position, the hourly wage will be around €18.50 and the monthly salary around €3,000. This salary often depends on knowledge, age and experience. You will find that the salary increases the longer you work or specify yourself in a particular field.
